My bumpy career path

Most of the first posts by Virtual Assistants focus on topics like “Why You Should Have a Virtual Assistant” or “What Tasks to Assign to Your VA.”

Why Am I Writing About Something Different?

Since you’re on my page, and even reading my blog, you know why you’re looking for a VA. I don’t believe this is a decision dictated by current trends. After all, you’re an entrepreneur, and every entrepreneur carefully considers their expenses, especially at the beginning of their journey. You likely know which tasks in running your business give you a headache, keep you at your computer late into the night, and don’t bring you joy. Or maybe you’re still working in a job you dislike and are building your own business on the side, but the reality clearly shows that a day has only 24 hours.

I understand what that means.

This post is here to give you a bit of encouragement and show that we are all in the same boat. I started my first business while I was a full-time student and working a full-time job. How did I manage that? Thirteen years later, I still can’t answer that question, but I remember the days when I felt like I fell asleep before my head even hit the pillow.

I was determined and managed to make it work. I achieved a lot, met amazing people, and traveled a bit. However, I wanted more and overdid it. The amount of work started to overwhelm me, I began to fail here and there, and the satisfaction from earning money began to fade. I didn’t have time to meet with friends, take my dog for a walk, or even do the laundry sometimes. I decided it was time to start over.

The Bittersweet Taste of Emigration

I moved to Norway to take over a friend’s business while she had a year-long maternity leave. I decided that this time, I would organize everything differently. I would never again sacrifice my personal life for work.

I started learning the language a month after moving to Oslo, met new people, learned about new cultures, and gained new skills. I worked a lot, but I didn’t limit myself to just one type of activity, and this gave me a sense of fulfillment. Finally, I felt like everything was going well!

And then the lockdown came.

I didn’t give up. As soon as I could, I started developing an e-commerce business, which I sold after two years because I decided to take a break to focus on my general wellbeing. Unfortunately, I increasingly felt that Norway was not my place. I decided to return to Krakow.

Working in a Corporation

Thanks to my language skills, I quickly got a job in a corporation on a project for Google Ads. I was thrilled about my responsibilities and the upcoming month-long product training. It was amazing!

However, reality quickly showed that the rigid framework of a corporation was very constraining, and treating the client as just another task to check off was eating me up inside. This was not what I wanted.

I discovered the Why?

And so, I am creating a place for you and myself.

I want genuine collaboration so that my clients know they are receiving solutions tailored to their needs, not just a template copied from a previous task.

I want my clients to keep the balance between personal life and work, so delegated tasks are always delivered on time, and I only contact them at agreed-upon times.

I care about your business as much as I care about my own, so all assignments are carried out with the utmost care.

I never stop learning so I can relieve you of additional tasks, always with 100% confidence that I know the topic.

If you feel we have something in common and our collaboration will be fruitful – schedule a meeting where we can discuss our expectations!

I hope to hear your stories on our online meetings!

Take care,

Mona
